Help us protect our environment in southwest New Mexico

Join with us to protect public health and the environment

With billions of dollars to be made from extracting natural resources in southwest New Mexico, mining companies don't always follow the rules unless we are watching them. Protection of our water, land and air is a necessity if we are to preserve community health and quality of life. Education and civic engagement are key components to our democracy and informed participation in natural resource use decisions.

With your donation to GRIP, together we can:

  • Work to ensure water quality protection and water supply security by advocating for responsible operation and cleanup of Grant County mines;
  • Engage mining-impacted communities to participate in public participation processes;
  • Facilitate cleanup by EPA and/or NMED of abandoned mine lands, such as the Pinos Altos Mining District;
  • Advocate for sustainable management of our water resources to build resilience and self-reliance in our future water supplies;
  • Serve as fiscal agent and partner in the Gila Conservation Coalition to protect the Gila River, New Mexico's last wild river;
  • Coordinate the Silver City Watershed Keepers, a citizens' water resources stewardship program that engages community members in protection and restoration of the Silver City Watershed;
  • Co-produce community radio program, Earth Matters, broadcast on Gila/Mimbres Community Radio that educates listeners about local, state, national and global environmental issues.
  • Oppose Holloman Air Force and Fort Bliss proposals to use the Silver City and Gila region as military training grounds.

We thank you for being a key part of our success!
